Ebook About
"Attitude is everything." It's what makes the difference between those who succeed and those who fail. And it's easy to see-in other people. It's not as easy to recognize when our own attitude needs adjustment, or to know how to change it. In You Are What You Think, David Stoop shows readers how to use self-talk to make positive changes in their attitudes and beliefs. Self-talk can be private speech, thoughts, or external speech, all of which shape emotions and behavior for good or bad. This popular book, previously published as Self-Talk, will help readers overcome stress, guilt, depression, anxiety, and anger; release the power of faith; choose healthy, positive thoughts; and more.

Book You Are What You Think Review :

A multitude of blessings are bound with a cover in this book. I am not a cheesy person as that first sentence would indicate so saying that means I really feel something it. Dr. Stoop's book is full of God's wisdom and love. I can't think of a book that has helped me more than this one. He encourages change in such a positive way. If you're depressed. do something, anything, even one thing, about it and it will help. Stop thinking so negatively and he gives many, many examples. He's gentle and he uses the Bible a great deal. There is no guilt or shame in this book. Paul and David didn't always feel so great about themselves and he explains how God worked with them. I didn't use his discussion questions but it probably would have been a good idea, because they look excellent. This would be excellent for a group. I can't get over how the tiny changes he suggests have made such big changes in my life. He makes it abundantly clear that we all matter and God loves us and we should love ourselves too. We should give ourselves a break and change the way we think.
As a Christian I found the combination of psychology and biblical stories to be very enlightening. David Stoop really has a command of the "talk yourself to sanity" idea. This book seems to have been written in the 80s so some of the information is a little outdated. However his take on "The Secret" before it was popular is interesting. Apparently people were trying to manifest material things way back then with disappointing results. The only thing I think I disagreed with the author about is anger. I'm much happier now that I get angry far less often. I don't think anger is a healthy emotion if you are getting angry all the time. Some self-talk may help you in this case. In fact this book claims that anger and fear are responsible for major illnesses.I feel this book will appeal mostly to a Christian audience, however it will also appeal to those patient enough to deal with the Kindle book which has a outdated font. At least it looks like the book was scanned into a computer after being typed with a faulty typewriter. All the "e's" are especially annoying. Yes I had to talk my way through this book to keep reading. I'd suggest the paperback instead of the Kindle version. However, despite this the book has some value even 32 years later. It has a lot of wisdom and focuses on how attitude makes or breaks us. This book will also help those who are prone to worry or who are very stressed out by their thoughts.~The Rebecca Review
